Whoa......Slow Down Tex....

What the heck is going on here?

Have we all lost our minds?

Have we lost all ability to think rationally and clearly?

I think H1N1 has sucked all the brains out of the sane people I know and replaced them with panic, terror-laden people who can only think of one thing....

Ok.

Let's review.

H1N1 is a FLU.

The seasonal flu kills more than 6,000 people a year in Canada.
H1N1 has killed 81.

I mean...27 people died while building the Brooklyn Bridge. So, I wonder, while it was being built...did people who had construction jobs wonder if they were going to catch 'the bridge'??

More than 8,000 people (in the US) a year die from LIP CANCER. WHAT? Lip cancer? About one an hour. Seriously, there should be a W5 special or something....I mean, why isn't this headline news! My lips are tingling...is that weird?

Over 2 MILLION people worldwide die pre-maturely from air pollution a YEAR.....
5,000 people have died worldwide from H1N1....total.

So, basically, if you drive a SUV you're killing like 100 times more people than H1N1.

Like I said...it's all perspective.

The Things I Know For Sure.....

Do you ever have those Oprah moments? You know...the 'aha' moments in life where something wakes up in your brain and you realize something for the greater good?

I had one of those on friday.

I was standing in the Smithers Civic Centre, watching my girls skate and soaking up all the 'small-town-ness' possible when I realized how much I LOVE our community.

I use the word community because that is what Smithers is to me. It's everything cliche that you could imagine about a small town....from big trucks with truck nuts to lululemon wearing pilates instructors....curling club to Boston Pizza...and the list goes on. It's having more than half the population show up to a fall fair parade just to see the crazy out of shape belly dancers strut their stuff and throw out bazooka joe gum to the crowd....

And I LOVE IT.

I was talking to a lady I quasi-know because Delaney and her son were born the same year and have been in the same class off and on for the last 6 years. She had her two sons there and was leaving to go pick her husband up at the airport so I offered to keep watch over the boys just in case. She thanked me and went to tell the boys if they needed anything just ask 'Delaney's Mom'...then she left. She left her most prized possessions in the hands of someone she doesn't really know....and that's when it dawned on me. This little town is a community. We watch after one anothers children. We help each other out. We have TIME for conversations because we don't have to spend half our lives driving places....I mean, this lady was back in half an hour from the airport and she even had time to run her hubby home! We stood at the back near the concession and let the smell of pizza pops waft by our noses while we watched our kids skate around and around....

And it was good.

So small town good.

I'm B-O-R-I-N-G.

Newsflash.

I may be slightly boring.

I was going to try and blog twice a month but since I don't have a crazy spider phobia to write about (Heath) and My husband hasn't been gone for three weeks (Billie)...it just feels like I'm at a loss.

I've got nothing.
Nada.
Zero.

I mean, I could bore you with details about how the teacher had to rip my baby girl from my arms on the first day of school while she screamed 'Mommy....Mommy....I love you....Mommy....MOMMMMMMMYYYYYY.' I could tell you how I walked away with my eyes brimming with tears only to pick her up at the end of the day completely happy and excited for the next school day.

I could tell you that I'm still on steroids for my stupid eye problem so that means the +15 pounds I have on because of my first round still hasn't come off......

I could mention that Calvin has once again begun fall reno's, so that means that there is drywall dust all over my house...WHICH I LOVE....dust and disorganization...my all time FAVORITES!

I could talk about the fact that this year, I'm teaching 16 students piano and FIVE of them are adults!

I could go on and on about not having any kids home in the day and how I'm finding that the days go by so fast and before I know it...they are home!

but like I said....
I've got nothin'......
