Call the WAMbulance....

I'm going to Hawaii in 10 days and I have had the WORST....and I mean WORST attitude this week.

What could I possibly be so sad about?

No clean drinking water? Nope, that's not me...that's Africa.

Religious persecution? Still not me, although arguing about the merits of a glass of wine....oh never mind.....I'm not being killed for my beliefs...that's China....or Iran....or Alabama....

Going hungry? Uh...222 pounds...enough said.

No shelter? DARN...the kids in India have me beat on that one too!

Friendless? Again, I bring out the initials T,L and H. No go on the no friends....

Alone? Unless you count Saturday night from 4:30-10:30, I'm not alone. (One day I will get to pick what to watch on Saturday night....darn you to heck Toronto!!)

OK, where was I going with this? I've had a rough week.....I'm worried about money (I know, I know, we're going to Hawaii but that's paid for!!), I have been waking up in the middle of the night with random thoughts like 'DON'T FORGET THE CELL PHONE CHARGER!!!!!!!!!!!" I have been snappy with my girls, although in my defence, when I say, please don't do THAT...I actually mean it!

Maybe I'm having a early-mid life crisis?

Come to think of it, I was thinking of getting a red leBaron convertible and doing 'mainers' all afternoon....

It's a phase.

It should be over in 5 -7 days.

I'll get the advil...you bring the marguritas.

The Thing Is...I'm Not a 'Fun' Mom...

OK...

The thing is....

I'm not really a 'fun' Mom.

I have friends who love to craft with their kids.....

I'm not that Mom.

I'm the Mom who throws gluesticks and paper into the craft bin and then encourages them to make a card. BY THEMSELVES.

I have friends who LOVE to play 'playmobile' with their kids.

I'm not that Mom.

I'm the Mom who gets the sweet streets all set up (upstairs, out of the way) and then tell them to 'GO AT IT'. BY THEMSELVES.

I have friends who like to have tea parties with their kids.

I am NOT that Mom.

I am the Mom who gets the tea party all set up (upstairs) and then comes downstairs to my own 'coffee' party. BY MYSELF.

Now, all hope is not lost.....last weekend I did go outside and sit in the snowfort, play yahtzee (yes with the kids!) and bake with my girls.....

Here is the kind of Mom I am...

I like to snuggle in my bed with girls on each side and read stories and then settle in to a book of my own while they read beside me.

I like to shop with my girls.

I like to talk with my girls.

I like to show my girls about correct make-up application. (It's a skill...ask Heather!)

I like to watch Friday night movies with my girls.

I LOVE to snuggle in our bed Sunday night and watch America's Funniest Video's with my girls.

I admit, in alot of these areas I have to grow.....I know sometimes that I need to say 'yes' to the girls, like when they make a restaurant (usually named the 'Rose Tonic Cafe'...don't ask...) upstairs and want to seat Calvin and I at the best table. OR..when they have been practicing a play that we get front row seats for....

I have to brag though, about this one thing. This Monday coming up, Delaney and Avery are having a party. For no reason. That's right, NO REASON. They got these party planner things and then last week asked if they could have a 'Spring Break' (and I use that term loosely, it's fricken' freezing here) party. High School Musical theme. Oh yeah, instead of thinking of 25 reasons why we shouldn't have a party. I said 'sure'. I bought chips, pop and rainbow twizzlers. I helped do invites.....and so, in a few days, my house will be teeming with ten tween girls, giddy, laughing and loud....and all I can say is...

I'm glad they'll be upstairs.
