Aloha Oe....by numbers
Ok, so we're back (BOO), and I thought I'd try to do a numbers blog like my ol' buddy DJ Mio.
2794- The number of kilometers we drove in our van (here to Seattle and back!!)
2- nights that we spent at our good friends, Emil and Wendy Fernandes house in Abbotsford (fun fact-they used to live here and we bought their house!)
11.5- hours that we spent on the plane. 6.5 there and 5 back. Weird hey? The tail wind was so strong on the way home that it cut our travel time by 1.5 hours!
3- number of girls in my family who were VERY excited about everything from just being in Seattle and eating at 'Jack in the Box' to getting on the plane and getting a tour of the cockpit. THEN at announcement time, the pilot saying 'A special welcome to Delaney, Avery and Camryn-first time fliers and a Happy 6th Birthday to Camryn! Welcome aboard Alaksa Airlines!' That was only just the first 2 days! Imagine their excitement at getting to snorkel, swim and play in the sand every single day for almost two weeks!
0- number of times we had to use the spanking spoon!
8- number of shells we brought back
2- days of rain we had
27- temperature every day we were on the island of Kaua'i
2- easter egg hunts we had. One in Lihue and one in Abbotsford when we got home! (My Auntie Donna-Mae made a turkey dinner and had a huge hunt for the kids)
4- trips we made to Costco in Hawaii. The food and drink is WAY cheaper there.
??@??- how many daquiris, mudslides and mixed drinks we had. Now, I think that we each had 2 a day, but with five adults and 11 days? You do the math!
4-times we saw Humpback Whales breeching
5- beaches we went to. (Side note, the beach on the north shore where Aaron, Vanessa and Calvin tried to surf, was the BOMB! Perfect sand and waves!)
1- Luau....at the church we went to actually!
8- times we watched 'I Love Lucy'. We weren't used to the time change and so we woke up before 7 every day and found that 'I Love Lucy' was on. The girls loved it! (Side note, each room had a big flat screen tv so there were three to choose from!)
3- number of times we ate Kraft Dinner for lunch in the condo!
4.5- average hours we were in the water every day.
3- times the girls went to the 'Poi' ponds at the condo to feed the fish. (There was a 9:00 am feeding time, and they staff would give you food to feed the fish, the girls thought it was cool!)
3-times we saw 'Monk Seals' on the beach. There are only 1100 left in the world.
4- visits to Starbucks in Kaua'i. There was one right across from our condo but the workers were CRANKY...you could say they DID NOT have the 'Aloha' spirit...so we bought coffee and made our own at the condo. In fact, my Mom would be up before everyone else every morning and she'd have the coffee ready when we got up! What a woman!
8- bottles of sunscreen we went through. NO FOOLIN'!
5- number of UV shirts our family bought....
3- little girls with burned legs. OOPS!
7- bathing suits we left in Hawaii....ruined from sun, sand and salt water!
3- books I finished in two weeks (one by Maeve Binchy and two by Stephanie Meyer....that's another blog.....)
1- hour of sleep I got on the 'red eye' flight home from Hawaii.
2- times we went to the movie theatre in Lihue. We saw 'Monsters VS Aliens' and 'The Hannah Montana Movie'
2- Canucks games that Aaron and Calvin saw. They didn't miss ANY of the play off games. In fact, when the girls went to see the HM movie, Calvin and Aaron went to find a sports bar with hockey on it. They found one with 9 different screens, and were the ONLY people watching the hockey game!
10- times Delaney threw up on the plane and then the ride to Abbotsford on the way home. Poor kid - she didn't throw up at all on the way there. She was SO
tired.
2- years until we get to go again....next year is Disneyland compliments of my Mom so we'll have to wait for two years......or more.....WAHHHHHHHHHH.
It was an amazing trip, we had a great time, we enjoyed being with our family......
Until next time....
ALOHA.
