You Snooze, You Lose!!!!!!!!!!
OK, some of you may have noticed that I pulled my last blog..reason being that my BF Heather was coming to surprise my other BF Laura and I didn't want to give the surprise away (Heather had commented on my blog and I panicked and erased it!)
There is nothing like having house guests for two weeks to make you realize how perfectly anal you really are!!!
Poor Heather, she couldn't put an empty water glass down before it was whisked away into the dishwasher.
Here are a few things I learned about myself the last two weeks.
1) I have an unspoken 'do not touch the window' rule at my house. I guess at one point it was spoken but my kids are older now so I don't say it much anymore. I didn't think I even had a 'rule' per say until a cute blonde haired 20 month old would walk to the window with jam hands and place them ever so gently on the glass! Needless to say, that rule was on hiatus the last two weeks.
2) I rather dislike 'hot wheels' cars. We actually have some here for boys that come over to play (and my girls like them too) but when you have 20 of them out at a time, someone, somewhere is bound to step on one.
3) I get panicky when there are toys downstairs in my living area. Again, when I had smaller kids, we had toys downstairs ALL the time, but now it's my space....SO, I had to learn to RELAX when the smaller kids brought toys down. Seriously, toys won't kill anyone, why am I so ANAL???
4) It's NEVER too early for a cooler.
5) I do not have a keen sense of smell. I know this because Heather and Ava have very sensitive noses. One day after poor little Sebastian had barfed all over my living room carpet (which had been cleaned up) Ava came in the room, instantly turned up her nose and announced that the living room smelled like puke. Heather then came in and noticed it too. Me? I thought it smelt fine and am very grateful that they let me know! Imagine having guests in and them wondering why my house smelled like sour milk!?!?!?! (Thanks to vinegar and water, the carpet smells no more!)
6) I'm old. I'm tired. I can't stay up late anymore.
7) I feel full when my house is full. I mean that in a good way. I love to be able to take care of people, bake for people and have a purpose in my day. 5 extra people for two weeks was alot but I really did like it, and the house is SO quiet now!
8) I love teletoon RETRO. Honestly, the kids watched this every morning and the shows just CRACKED me up! Has anyone else ever noticed how crazy violent Bugs Bunny is? I also watched 'Woody Woodpecker' and stood there with my jaw open while 'Woody' called someone else 'dumdum' and paddled their butt! There are also an unusual amount of animals that smoke in those old shows! Maybe animals can't get lung cancer?
9) I've aged well. Sure, I wish I was 'thinner' but comparing old pictures of 'the gals' when Heather was here, I think the 30's have been good to me!
10) You just can't substitute for good friends. I've spent 15 years building these friendships and honestly, I can't imagine not having them around.

What a blessing GOOD friends are, eh? They are rare and hard to find but when you do find them its the best thing in the world. I am so glad you have that in these beautiful women and their families.
Hats off to you as well for having a house full for 2 weeks...now thats true friendship!

They're lucky to have you, Michelle, and I'm sure they know that!
