Fact or Fiction....Elliott style
Fact. I have not written a blog in well over 6 weeks. (Reason? Do you ever feel like you have stuff to write but it's just too damn boring or depressing to actually type out??)
Fiction. My husband's job is secure. Thanks to the low american dollar and the low commodity price of lumber, West Fraser (North America's second largest lumber producer and Calvin's employer) cut two shifts from PIR in the last 6 weeks. 75 people out of work in Smithers, and by the grace of God, Calvin is still working. Thank the Lord we aren't in a terrible financial situation of having a really high mortgage, a vehicle payment and a credit card bill.....we have our mortgage and that's it...AND Calvin does have that little journeyman carpentry ticket he can fall back on, but still..it's been an up and down few weeks!
Fact. We have had a most excellent spring here 'up north'. Lots of sun, and in fact we've had a plus twenty few days which was lovely for the long weekend!
Fiction. I am sad that in a few short months, my baby is going to Kindergarten. FICTION. FICTION. FICTION. The diapers are gone, the playpen comes out for visitors only, we can leave glasses and breakables out, we can stay up late and SLEEP IN...the training wheels are away. We, the Elliott clan, are officially moving ON to the next phase in life.
Fact. We bought a tent. Excuse me, a 'camping villa'. We are not going to drive anywhere to use it....gas is TOO DAMN expensive so we are going to follow the throngs of people to Tyhee Lake AND also be squatters on Vanessa and Aaron's land at Round lake. We're going to have a Richmond camp a thon with my cousins. We are going to pee at V and A's house. It will be roughing it in the loosest sense of the term but we'll be swimming, eating chips and roasting wieners...a summer well spent!
Fiction. I'm staying in Smithers all summer. Unless Calvin totally loses his job, I'm trekking to Alberta to visit my BFF Heather in Medicine Hat. I'm driving MYSELF, and then after two weeks, Calvin will meet us there.
Fact. I just polished off a Bacardi Breezer Tropical Orange Smoothie. (It's that or the Strawberry ones....)
Fiction. I am planting a plethora of veggies and flowers this year. NO. I AM NOT. I have a 'garden' in the front that just has things that 'pop' up every year (is than an annual or a periennial?? I can never remember), some chives, and two hanging baskets from Canadian Tire. I actually despise gardening...weeding...watering....all of it. If it doesn't involve the 'fact' above, I don't really want to do it!
Fact. I totally called the final two of American Idol. The two Davids. NAILED IT. (I think David A might win but David Cook is beyond my fave..that sideways smirk and the camera??? YOWSERS.)
Fiction. I check my facebook daily. Nope, sorry, infact I rarely check once a week. I don't have enough hours in the day.
Fact. I check the weather network, MSN news AND ET online news daily. It's sad but it's my routine. I need to know, how hot I will be, how many Buurmese people have died and if Brangelina is really having twins.
Fiction. The best part about summer and wearing flip flops is dirty feet. YUCK.
Fact. In less than a month, Calvin and I (with Vanessa and Aaron) are flying down to Vancouver to stay at the River Rock Casino where my Dad is putting on a fundraiser for the Canadian Cancer Society called 'Irwin Barker and friends', where there will be quite a few Canadian celebs and we all get to go backstage! We are also all going to be in the documentary that CTV is filming about my Dad, where they have been following him since he got his cancer diagnosis. We are pretty stoked about this...it should be fun. (How many pounds does a camera add again???)
Alright, we just got home from Tyhee Lake, the laundry is in, the kids are getting bathed and I think we're going to watch a movie. We're beyond tired but oh was it worth it. Hope you are all well....

Impressive... I like the 'what we are up to via fact/fiction' Michelliott blog. I'm so bored that reading something is better than nothing.
Need more details on the flying down to Vancouver thing, I might be down there in a month! Moving... AGAIN. I should know for sure this week.
So glad Cal still has a job... life is so uncertain in that industry hey?
All I can say is...
YOU BETTER BE ABLE TO COME! My whole summer, and well, basically my whole life depends on it. At the very least the lives of my children depend on it...
And I am with you on the blogging ho-hum thing. I have much in my brain but no energy to make it funny or interesting.
Pictures pictures we've got pictures!
Also, I still haven't thought of anything awesome to say as a comment on here so...
"Funny blog."
Boo ya.
